Who We Are
We responsibly produce essential energy to support local and global needs while delivering long-term value to our people, shareholders, customers, partners and communities. Our people are fundamental to our success. As a global organization, Excellence, Trust, Respect and Responsibility are at the core of our vision and central to how we do business. Together, these core values create the foundation for our strong and collaborative culture.
We prioritize health and safety, the environment, and profitability, in that order. Nothing is more important to us than the safety of the public and those who work with us, and the protection of our natural surroundings.
Your Role
As a Senior Geophysicist, you’ll be a key part of our German Geoscience team, working across the full subsurface workflow with a strong focus on seismic interpretation. Your work will directly shape exploration and development decisions across Vermilion’s German asset portfolio. You’ll join a fast-paced, collaborative environment where ideas move quickly from interpretation to drilling, and where your technical expertise will have real impact on future growth opportunities.
What You’ll Do
- Deliver high-quality geophysical interpretations by analysis and integrating seismic, well, and subsurface data (2D/3D interpretation, well ties, time-depth conversion, seismic reservoir characterization).
- Evaluate and high-grade exploration and development opportunities, including risk assessment.
- Support development assets with field maturation and long-term development planning.
- Drive drilling proposal maturation, including documentation, operational monitoring, and post-drill analysis.
- Manage external projects and consultants, such as seismic processing and acquisition.
- Support reserves and resources booking for new exploration licenses.
- Assess open acreage and recommend to apply for new Exploration licenses.
What You Bring
- Geoscience degree (Master’s preferred).
- 10+ years’ industry experience with strong technical proficiency.
- Expertise in quantitative interpretation and reservoir characterization.
- Solid geological understanding and exploration background; development project experience is a plus.
- Proven track record in prospect generation through to drilling.
- High proficiency in industry software (e.g. Kingdom, REP, Petrel).
- Fluent in English; German and international experience are advantageous.
- A collaborative mindset, strong communication skills, and confidence to take initiative.
What We Offer
- A permanent role with high autonomy in a well-established, international company.
- Performance related compensation package.
- Top-Benefits including private health insurance, pension plan, and bike leasing.
- Extra Vermilion days and flexible time-off options.
- Modern office perks: free drinks, fresh fruit & nuts, and a weekly team breakfast.
- A strong community culture with team events, such as Family Days, and Day of Caring.

- Continuous learning through training and upskilling opportunities.
